The Institute for Social and European Studies Foundation (ISES) was created to host public debates on European history, integration, crossborder cooperation among diverse societies and to play and active role during the last decade in initiating and realizing new research and training programs in European integration studies.
It provides the public space for regional civil society organizations and programmes in English. ISES has a long tradition of openness to civil society actors, in its teaching, publications and public outreach programmes, including also representatives of business and government. Courses as well as lecture series are open to civil society and the general public. Internationally recognized for its top quality research and innovative teaching by the European Commission, ISES was designated a Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence in 2010. In 2012, ISES was awarded a UNESCO Chair in Cultural Heritage Management and Sustainable Development.
